About This Role

This position exists to provide highly skilled electrician support to the university through construction, maintenance and repair duties to provide a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and guests. Knowledgeable and proficient in the high voltage loop system on campus to enable the back feeding of high voltage to building substations in order to ensure minimum electrical outage time.


About Us

The Utilities and Plant Management Department is responsible for providing heating and cooling to buildings by utilizing district steam and chilled water from our central plants. Additionally, the department oversees all utility infrastructure, including electrical, natural gas, water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. Furthermore, they manage roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and all outdoor lighting.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prefer at least ten years of experience in commercial electrical work, with six years at the journey level.


Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:



  • Have and maintain valid driver's license.
  • Become certified as a Class 1 Asbestos worker during the probationary period and maintain it.
  • Subject to inclement weather response.
  • This position is considered essential.
  • Responsible to know, understand, and follow safety guidelines in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, to include K-State and Facilities policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to comply with the safe work practices identified in the departmental Job Hazard Analysis, Personal Protective Equipment Assessment and Departmental Safety Orientation Acknowledgment form.
  • Responsible for the implementation of safety regulations, guidelines and work practices to prevent injury to yourself and others.
