About This Role

The Liu laboratory in the Plant Pathology department at Kansas State University seeks a highly motivated candidate interested in research projects for building large language models using genomic data and applying models for various genomic prediction tasks. The person will be responsible for: collecting and clearing training data; experimenting different model architecture and parameters; developing user friendly command line scripts for prediction tasks; documenting scripts and preparing manuscripts for publication. Self-guidance and resourcefulness are necessary qualities for success in the position. Starting salary will be commensurate with past experience.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • PhD in Computer Science


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Proficient in Unix and Python
    Basic understanding of genomics and bioinformatics
    Demonstrated research experience with recorded publication
