Job Title: Senior Laboratory Sciences Professional - Cell Therapy Research

Job Summary:

Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential "wet" hazards. Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions

    • Assistance in the management of the cell bank, properly organizing samples in the software, and communicating with other researchers

  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects

    • Culture tumor cell lines, as well as primary T cells from mouse/canine peripheral blood. Ficoll isolation, culture/expansion, and manipulation of these cells.

    • Multicolor Flow cytometry (FACS)

    • Murine models of cancer, IP, retroorbital, and IV injections, collecting blood, harvesting organs, IVIS imaging, and processing samples for flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.

    • qPCR, cloning, maxiprep, transfection/transduction of T cells, protein/RNA extraction, single cell sequencing, and microscopic cell imaging.

Cytotoxicity assays using Incucyte, luciferase, and impedance assays

  • Perform experiments, tabulate, and analyze research

  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results

  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test process and evaluate the results produced

  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas

  • Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary

Work Location:

On-site - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field

  • Two (2) years of professional-level research experience

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in immunology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field

  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory

  • Experience with immunology/CAR-T cell studies

  • Experience with tissue culture and maintenance of various cell lines.

  • Animal experience (designing/mouse handling/injections/harvesting/sacrificing)

  • Multicolor flow cytometry experience

  • Previous experience in presenting and/or aiding in publications

  • Immunohistochemistry experience

  • Single-cell sequencing experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

  • Ability to stay organized under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a "team"

  • Ability to complete lab functions involving cell culture and aseptic techniques

  • Competency with molecular biology techniques

  • Ability to troubleshoot and independently resolve technical issues with experiments

  • Background in immunology

  • Competent with ELISAs and molecular cloning.

  • Murine model expert. Ability to lead in this aspect and train others.

  • Competency with FlowJo, Microsoft Office, Prism GraphPad, and analysis software(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as $54,440 to $69,248.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
