Position Announcement

Utah Tech University, a dynamic and innovative polytechnic institution in St. George, Utah, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President of Advancement & CEO of the Utah Tech University Foundation.

Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President provides vision, leadership, and oversight of all advancement operations-including development, alumni relations, and the Utah Tech University Foundation.

As the university's chief fundraising officer and the CEO of the Foundation, the Vice President is responsible for cultivating relationships, securing resources, and stewarding philanthropic support to advance the university's mission and strategic priorities. This leader will inspire a culture of philanthropy across the university community and build strong partnerships and enduring relationships with donors, alumni, and the region's civic and business leaders.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and cabinet on all matters related to philanthropy, alumni engagement, and donor relations.
  • Lead and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy that grows the university's philanthropic support, endowment, and alumni involvement.
  • Serve as the university's chief fundraising officer, personally cultivating and soliciting major donors.
  • Inspire and mentor a high-performing advancement team and alumni relations staff to achieve ambitious fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Promote professional development and accountability across all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and lead major gift strategies, planned giving programs, corporate giving initiatives, endowment cultivation, and capital campaigns.
  • In alignment with the University's strategic priorities, develop, launch, and lead a transformative comprehensive campaign.
  • Oversee annual giving efforts, donor relations activities, and donor recognition and fundraising events.
  • Oversee advancement operations including analytics, donor tracking systems, and gift processing to ensure efficiency and strategic insight.
  • Chair the Utah Tech University Hall of Fame selection committee and oversee the annual induction ceremony.
  • Act as CEO of the Utah Tech University Foundation, ensuring its effective governance, financial stewardship, and compliance.
  • Work closely with the Foundation Board of Directors to set goals, establish policies, and engage members as advocates and donors.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Utah Tech University in the community, throughout Utah, and beyond, to foster goodwill and engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in advancement activity with increasing levels of leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with foundations and government agencies that support higher education initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of policies, procedures, and organizational structures within higher education.
  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing high-performing teams.
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of advancement operations, infrastructure, and systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal, written, and active listening abilities.
  • Ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with donors, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and external partners.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt executive staff position. Annual salary of $194,000 for a bachelor's degree qualified applicant, and $208,000 for a master's degree qualified applicant (depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of October 2025. Excellent benefits package included that begins on start date; includes medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, employee assistance and wellness programs, retirement plan contributions, and undergraduate tuition waivers for employees and eligible dependents, as well as paid holidays in addition to sick and vacation leave accruals.
