GENERAL SUMMARY: * Reports to the Nursing Leader/Administration. The Nurse Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who under the direction of department leadership develops, implements, monitors and evaluates a program of care for patients. * Coordinates care across the continuum to facilitate quality outcomes. * Collaborates with other healthcare team members including physicians, nurses, extenders, ancillary and support staff to ensure optimum patient care and satisfaction. * Provides education to patients and family regarding disease process. Trains and directs a nursing team in the optimal care of the patient. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. * Successful completion of HFHS (Parent Operating Group) Pharmacology test. * Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in area of specialty. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. * A minimum of three to five years of progressively more responsible clinical nursing practice in specialty. * Certification in specialty preferred. * Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. * Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. * Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical group personnel. * Preferred experience in the specialty. * Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Knowledge of Word and Excel. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: * Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS or ACLS per HFHS Policy.
