Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Technician/Engineer in one of the below posting locations. Qualified candidates could be full-time or part-time/seasonal and will perform construction engineering and construction management services in the Central Illinois region. You will have an opportunity to work in the field on road and bridge construction projects.

Job Activities:


  • Visits construction sites to provide quality control on construction project by ensuring plans and specifications are being adhered to by contractors and follow local/state regulations
  • Review plans on constructability in conjunction with the engineers and project managers
  • Performs quality control reviews of design documents, including plans and specifications, within the area of expertise
  • Attends meetings with clients and project manager to convey and/or receive information
  • Monitors contractor construction schedules to ensure projects are completed within established timelines
  • Observes testing required by contract documents to record and prepare reports
  • Prepares written materials to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information


Specific Requirements include:


  • 5-10 years or equivalent of related experience
  • Associates in Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or related field desired.
  • IDOT and/or ISHTA construction Phase 3 - CM experience, required
  • Local Agency, federally funded construction Phase 3 - CM experience, preferred
  • Active IDOT Documentation Certification, desired
  • Other IDOT Construction Certifications, desired
  • Expertise with documentation requirements and inspection procedures
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions
  • Must frequently lift and/ or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 40 pounds

Salary Range: $75,000 min - $95,000 max (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
