Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise-Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support-serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. GbILS values its innovative thinking and service-oriented team who provide services for a variety of federal government and commercial clients.

Summary:

The Woodworker/Packer/Warehouse Specialist primarily perform woodworking duties. However, when woodworking duties are not required, this position will also perform packer and warehouse specialist duties as needed.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Constructs and repairs items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood and wood substitutes in accordance with Military Standard (MILSTD) 2073-1E, 2073-1D and Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) 503 Vol. II.
  • Studies specifications and measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns, templates, ruler, pencil, and hand and power saws.
  • Fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple.
  • Repairs defective containers by replacing damaged parts.
  • Inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.
  • Builds crates around objects, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nail gun.
  • Fabricates, repairs, modifies, and replaces woodwork on vehicle sides and beds.
  • Applies preservative to prolong wood life.
  • Packs, seals, bands, and applies markings to crates and containers.
  • Prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment.
  • Places items in shipping containers and may involve one or more of the following: knowledge of various items of stock in order to verify content, selection of appropriate type and size of container, inserting enclosures in container; using excelsior or other material to prevent breakage or damage, closing and sealing container, and applying labels or entering identifying data on container.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong woodworking skills, to include the use of tools necessary to perform the duties.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and via email
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a valid Driver's License.
  • Licensed and capable of operating lifting and material handling equipment to include forklifts, hand carts, and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to lift and carry items that weigh about twenty-three (23) kilograms (fifty (50) pounds) with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers.
  • Ability to frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to nine (9) kilograms (twenty (20) pounds).
  • Must possess a current Forklift and Pack Mule license.
  • May be required to possess a valid truck and trailer license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in using computers as part of a military or civilian retail / store / warehouse environment.
