Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage the execution of medium-size and/or complex to large projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with ABB policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments. Leading as Site Project Manager at customer sites during the execution phase, providing project team management on schedule, material, resource planning (internal and subcontractors), commissioning and punch list item closure. The work model for the role is: # LI - Hybrid This role is contributing to the Robotics & Discrete Automation Division in the USA with a home office in Au-burn Hills, MI. Main stakeholders are both our internal and external customers. You will be mainly accountable for: Project Leadership *Leads the project team, establishes the project execution approach, oversees project hand-over, execution planning, budgeting, and monitoring and control activities for internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals. *Ensures the project follows and complies with company HSE policies. *Provides performance feedback for the resources allocated to projects and focuses on delivering at or above target. *Provides leadership; active involvement in continuous improvement and simplification and acts as the key point of contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Project Execution and Control *Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies. *Identifies and plans all document deliverables required by the contractual scope of work and incorporates this plan into the overall project plan/schedule. *Monitors and controls project progress effectively and efficient resource utilization, financials, project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow. *Leads the site project team, defines main guidelines, allocates tasks, and motivates and monitors in-ternal and external resources and suppliers to accomplish all tasks and milestones. *At customer site, responsible for all activities for installation, commissioning and handover phase to end customer while identifying, qualifying, quantifying, managing project risks and ensuring all opportunities are identified and pursued. *Supports local Sales and Tendering through early involvement in tenders. *Captures, analyzes, and shares lessons learned throughout the project. *Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out, and acknowledgment by the customer, all in accordance with the contract. *Ensures that required procurement activities for services, materials, and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers are performed by the assigned resources. Planning and Scheduling *Defines and applies advanced project scheduling techniques to manage schedule risks proactively to avoid possible future schedule deviations with On Time Delivery (OTD) impact. *Applies earned value method to manage the critical path and project float to optimize the schedule. *Forecasts schedule to determine if the project is still within defined tolerance ranges and identifies any necessary change requests to drive the closure.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 8+ years of experience
- Strong experience in Site Management and Project Management desired
- Controls Engineering, PLC programming, Robot programming, manufacturing, and construction background in Automotive industry desired
- ABB PM Certification required for internal ABB candidates
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence both internally and externally
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Project desired
- Willingness to travel over 50% of the time
