Management/Leadership Req #: 34405 Summary Summary: The Manager of Patient Safety and Risk Management (PSRM) has primary responsibility for the management and oversight of operations, staff and data management of Patient Safety and Risk Management personnel and associated activities. This individual is responsible for effectively coordinating Patient Safety and Risk Management operations with other Integrated Quality and Safety functional areas, Human Resources and Operations. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a clinical field required; Master's degree preferred.
- License/Certifications: Licensed in clinical field. RN licensure preferred.
- Experience: Minimum five years of experience required, with two years of healthcare Risk Management and/ or Patient Safety experience preferred. Experience working with inter-professional teams in addressing organization-wide problems preferred. Additionally, three years of progressively more responsible management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting are preferred.
- Ability to analyze various patient-related incidents and medical records, investigate and follow up such incidents, and determine trends that require mitigation.
- Experience in systems thinking and application of quality management principles.
- Commitment to providing a positive service experience.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare systems, with previous experience in the healthcare industry and customer service.
- Excellence in verbal and written communication skills, including presenting in front of large and small groups.
- Strong software and computer skills, including Microsoft Office (including Power Point, Access, and Excel, Visio) and database development/ maintenance.
- Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with all levels of clinical and management staff.
- Analytical ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are moderately complex.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- A comprehensive knowledge of performance improvement activities and patient care standards as well as investigational and recordkeeping skills.
