Executive Service ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL HEALTH FACILITIES COMMISSION Nashville, TN Salary: $8,534.00 - $13,618.00 Closing Date: 05/26/2025For more information, visit the link below: Who we are and what we do: The Commission licenses and regulates 17 different types of health care institutions and administers the certificate of need and several other programs. Job Overview: This job is for an Associate Counsel position in the Office of Legal Services, primarily focused upon litigation. This position is a hybrid role where the candidate will be required to be in the office at least three days per week. Key Responsibilities: The litigation attorney will be responsible for handling a full case load of disciplinary litigation matters. The attorney will be responsible for reviewing proposed discipline to ensure the proposal is statutorily permitted. The litigation attorney will be responsible for preparing the settlement negotiation documentation. Any matter that does not resolve through settlement must be taken to a contested case hearing in accordance with the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act. The litigation attorney will also be responsible for all discovery related to the disciplinary matter, which will include drafting and responding to written discovery, as well as taking and defending depositions. The litigation attorney will also assist with any other necessary work assigned by the Deputy or General Counsel. Work closely with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree and Tennessee bar admission, or ability to apply for admission without examination. Strong work ethic and pride in ones work product. Strong written and oral communication skills. Solid legal research skills. Ability to work with strong personalities and resolve conflict diplomatically. Ability to become proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, ASPEN and/or iQIES, and general online records management. Desirable Qualifications: Relevant legal experience with the rulemaking process to include drafting pleadings, discovery, and handling contested case hearings is highly desirable.
