We are seeking a dynamic Analyst, Financial Accounting Systems to join our NRG Accounting team. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of various types of Accounting projects, programs and initiatives.

As an Analyst, Financial Accounting Systems you will support projects and project team members through the project and program project lifecycles, with a strong emphasis on applying structured project methodologies. You will work closely with Accounting Leadership, Accounting resources, Project stakeholders and sponsors, IT, various Functional departments and other external partners to ensure seamless planning and execution of strategic and tactical Accounting projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate and support key accounting projects and initiatives with a heavy focus on applying project management competencies to deliver the project or initiative

  • Collaborate with Accounting and other functional area personnel and teams within NRG to deliver projects and programs with a proactive participative style

  • Apply project management principles to drive scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder alignment across Accounting and business functions

  • Utilize NRG's project methodology to guide projects and initiatives to a successful outcome

  • Use Microsoft Office Tools such as Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, etc. to create or edit project deliverables (Business Case, PFP, project plans, status reports, Communication Plans, Ghantt Charts, NRG Policies, etc.), explain key project concepts conceptually, track project work, tell a story, etc.

  • Plan and facilitate working sessions, project meetings, etc.

  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues, monitoring and/or escalating as needed to ensure resolution

  • Ability to work on multiple or simultaneous projects within a given timeframe

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management concepts and principles

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Teams, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills using good business acumen

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel, management, project stakeholders and project sponsors

  • Possess a high level of attention to detail

  • Capable of prioritizing your time, to make sure that things get done

  • Comfortable working with remote teams and utilizing technology to maximizeasynchronous communication and collaboration

  • Ability to manage projects and/or programs in Waterfall or Agile methodology

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering projects involving SAP or other ERP software packages

  • PMI PMP or other project management certification

  • Prior experience delivering projects utilizing Waterfall or Agile methodologies

  • Prior experience delivering projects within a large Financial Accounting systems ecosystem

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with ambiguity and evolving priorities
