About the Position TheTrades Specialist with journey-level trades experience performs maintenance, repair, construction, installation, and diagnosis tasks on County fixtures, equipment, and facilities to provide new and exceptionally well-maintained facilities for park users so they can enjoy a comfortable outdoor experience. This position is located at Parks and Recreation's Durango Facility at 2410 S. 27th Avenue and requires travel to facilities throughout the Maricopa County Regional Park system. We Require
High school diploma or GED Three years of journeyman-level experience in one or more areas of specialization (i.e., carpentry, HVAC, locksmithing, masonry, painting, plumbing, welding, equipment operation, etc.) Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement issued by the state of Arizona within six months of the hire date Maricopa County is required by state and federal regulations to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver's license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety, but which may not specifically require a valid CDL Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Journeyman-level experience beyond the minimum qualifications in masonry, welding/fabricating, electrical, equipment operation, and/or plumbing. Welding certification is required for Trades Specialists who will perform welding
Job Contributions
Perform skilled complex maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting duties in the areas of masonry, electrical duties, welding, fabrication, plumbing, and equipment operation; estimate time, labor, tools, equipment, and materials needed for jobs Diagnose, adjust, repair, replace, service, construct, fabricate, remodel, refinish, inspect, paint, and weld, etc., County fixtures and facilities Transport and operate heavy equipment, as licensed and certified, in performing maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting duties, constantly travels to work sites using county vehicles to perform related work; towing trailers of various sizes Read and interpret blueprints, maps, schematics, and specifications; offer design and conceptual ideas, and prioritize work to meet needs and schedules Utilize computers and automated systems, may order, purchase, pick up, and deliver materials, supplies, and equipment needed for the job; keep basic records Oversee work crew, which may include other Trades Specialists, park staff, volunteer staff, and/or community service designees Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
