The ISSS Check-In and Welcome Session (CIWS) program is aimed at supporting new international students as they transition to their academic and campus life at the University of Minnesota. All students must "check in" with ISSS by submitting their visa/immigration documents electronically to ISSS for verification of their visa status. All students will have the opportunity to attend an in-person ISSS Welcome Session before classes begin to learn important information while developing connections with their peers and the ISSS office. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for the CIWS program by reviewing immigration documents, updating student records, and preparing for and staffing the Welcome Sessions, including presenting and socializing at the events. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is dedicated to serving the University of Minnesota's international community. Its primary mission is to assist international students and scholars in successfully accomplishing the goals that brought them to the University. ISSS supports the University's internationalization efforts by helping departments bring new foreign nationals into the community; by providing intercultural training for students, staff, and faculty; and by offering events that build links between the U.S. and international communities on campus. The office helps new international students transition to the University of Minnesota through Global Gopher Experiences, a series of virtual and in-person events, and convenes the International Student Advisory Board to ensure international student voices are represented on campus. Pay Range: $15.25 an hour Please visit the Office of Student Health Benefits website for more information regarding benefit eligibility. Student workers are eligible to participate in the Student Health Benefit Plan, if they maintain 6 or more eligible course credits within a given semester.
