Senior Analyst, Global Accounting COE

The primary responsibility of the Global Accounting CoE is to serve as the global accounting subject matter experts. Members of the CoE obtain an understanding of current company-wide accounting policies, ensure Sherwin Williams processes adhere to those accounting policies, and operationalize accounting with a focus on standardization and efficiency. This position will work closely with the CoE Managers and require the ability to manage multiple on going initiatives, several of which may be project based, across different stakeholders. It will gain a broad exposure to SHW processes related to revenue, accounts receivable, cash inventory, accounts payable, long-lived assets and intercompany. Lastly, the position will have exposure to various cross functional teams within Sherwin Williams including Global Reporting, Accounting Policy, Controllership, Treasury, Shared Business Services (SBS) and Commercial Finance.

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Perform various recurring tasks including, but not limited to the following:



  • Customer price audit sampling and testing
  • Documentation of key accounting considerations within company contracts, such as those with customers
  • Facilitate the creation, distribution and aggregation of results from certain accounting questionnaires
  • Assist with the monthly review of capitalized software
  • Account reconciliations
  • Monthly monitoring to identify abnormal long-lived asset balances, including research and identification of solutions to assist Controllership


During monthly close, assist the Global Intercompany team with the review of intercompany relationships and assist with research and follow-up as necessary to resolve any discrepancies identified between legal entities.

Review and refine Treasury mapping file of bank accounts to general ledger accounts and assist global teams with bank reconciliations, including the identification and documentation of any identified reconciling items.

Work with the CoE Managers and other across the business to prepare and update process documentation using flowcharts. This includes documenting the procedures and assumptions/standardization efforts so that transactions are accounted for consistently across the global finance organization.

Special Projects - Participate in key Company accounting and finance initiatives such as the Lucernex real estate lifecycle management software implementation (lease accounting), Business Integrated Operating Systems project (BIOS) accounting reviews related to Oracle Cloud subledger implementations and accounting research and documentation as needed to facilitate continuous improvement in specific areas of focus as an organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree with Major in Accounting or Finance


Preferred:



  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or candidate in the process of sitting for CPA exam


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Microsoft Office experience


Preferred:



  • Public accounting experience, particularly Big 4
  • Familiar with Oracle and/or OneStream
