Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Test Support JR Technician / Small Boat Operator for the USV Operations and Sustainment program supporting Astrion Navy Division.

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION:San Diego, California

JOB STATUS:Hourly

TRAVEL: Various OCONUS and at sea testing as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

SECURITY CLEARANCE:Current active Secret Clearance or Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

CITIZENSHIP: Current U.S. Citizenship Required.

CERTIFICATIONS:N/A

EDUCATION / BACKROUND:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Basic knowledge of seamanship.
  • Proficiency in small boat operations and maneuvers.
  • Experience operating and maintaining small boats (12 to 30 feet, single and twin outboard motors).
  • Eligible for a Secret security clearance
  • Prior experience operating and maintaining small boats is required.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.

  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic test environments.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

* Experience with unmanned systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assist in the planning and execution of operations and testing.

* Assist in command and control of autonomous vessels.

* Operate a variety of small boats (single and twin outboard, 12 to 30 feet).

* Conduct routine maintenance and perform minor repairs on boats.

* Support at-sea testing of unmanned maritime systems for the U.S. Navy.

* Perform other maintenance, cleaning and organizing duties as assgiend.

Additional Information:

* At-sea testing may occasionally require work weeks of up to 70 hours.

* Work may involve variable schedules and extended periods at sea.

SALARY RANGE: Estimated $20- $25 USD hourly*

*depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications
