As a Business Intelligence Engineer in our Veterinary Software organization, you'll be at the forefront of transforming complex data into strategic value for our clients. In this highly visible role, you'll lead the design, development, and delivery of high-impact analyses and dashboards that empower veterinary practices to make data-driven decisions that fuel their growth. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver the VetSoft Data Services Platform providing clients with an exception experience. - You will build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports, providing actionable insights to business stakeholders
- You will define, implement, and standardize business metrics and KPIs using data models and semantic layers
- You will develop and maintain data models, ensuring they are performant, maintainable, and aligned with business reporting needs
- You will design and implement scalable ETL pipelines to transform and model data efficiently
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, finance, marketing) to gather data requirements and deliver tailored BI solutions
- You will ensure data accuracy, quality, and governance by implementing data validation, monitoring, and documentation practices
- You will optimize performance of ETL pipelines and SQL queries, tuning models and warehouse usage to reduce compute costs and improve latency
- You will integrate BI solutions into internal applications or workflows, working closely with software developers using REST APIs, SDKs, or embedded analytics capabilities
- You will stay current with data and BI technologies, continuously exploring improvements or new tools within cloud database ecosystem, modern data stack, and visualization platforms
What do you need to succeed?
- Deep product analytics experience - including experience with customer data and customer analytics platforms
- Visualized data experience using tools like Looker and Tableau
- Data Architecture Expertise: Strong knowledge of designing and implementing scalable data models, schemas, and data pipelines.
- Experience with data streaming frameworks like Kafka
- Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including services like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Experience in relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and best practices for data security and quality.
- Experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologies and SaaS environments
- Familiarity with modern web technologies (such as React), and cloud backend technologies (such as GoLang, Typescript, Python, .NET, Java)
- Agile processes including Scrum, Kanban, and/or others
- 5+ years of experience working with big data and analytics
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
