  • Personal Traits- Good communication abilities and ability to work well with vendors and supervisors. Good ability to multi-task with conscientious attention to detail and accuracy.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Authority to sign purchase orders and place orders for routine Company metal and supply purchases not exceeding $10,000. Request quotes from vendors, negotiate with vendors on the Company's behalf to attain the best possible value and terms. Purchases over $10,000 shall be approved by the Purchasing Manager. Non-routine purchases shall be approved or initiated by Plant Manager, VP of Finance or VP of Operations.



  • Request quotes from vendors, negotiate with vendors on the Company's behalf to attain the best possible value and terms.
  • Issue purchase orders based on requests from the organization.
  • Monitor lead times to ensure shipments are received before production deadlines.
  • Review job requirements and create purchase orders and negotiate with subcontractors to meet deadlines.
  • Create purchase orders on behalf of the company within designated dollar limits as directed or requisition.
  • Update and maintain vendor master records as directed.
  • Maintain and keep records in accordance with ISO/AS9100 Quality standards.
  • Work with the maintenance department to help schedule outside vendors to come in and do maintenance on various equipment throughout the shop.
  • Maintain office and printer supplies.
  • Scan purchase orders and related documentation.
  • Maintain vendor files and assist Purchasing Manager in ensuring that they are up to date, including updating annual FAR updates and vendor quality certificates and ensuring other requisite files are attached to the vendor master.
  • Enter PO's and process outside operations as directed by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Account code and process UPS and credit card billings.
  • Maintain and keep records in accordance with DFAR and ITAR requirements.
  • Review and code credit card statements.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Good understanding of purchasing techniques. Ability to effectively negotiate with vendors.
  • Excellent ability to communicate with tact and professionalism in the English language.
  • Good organization skills, be able to multi-task.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and an ERP type purchasing system.


Education and Experience


  • 2 years purchasing experience or formal purchasing training.
