The Manufacturing Associate will perform a variety of tasks throughout the Pageland plant and acquire skills on the shop floor through cross training and job rotations. Associate will perform the summarized jobs listed below. ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Furnace Operator
- Operate all anneal and leveler furnaces associated with the facility. Work from schedules, mill orders, written and verbal instructions to operate furnaces to heat material for conversion in a safe and economical manner.
- Must be capable of performing every aspect of operating furnaces such as lighting, fuel selection, minimum/maximum controllable temperature, maximum rate of rise, maximum furnace load, minimum clearance from floors and walls, etc.
- Acquire and maintain general working knowledge of the deviation limitations of particular materials and use judgment in operating furnaces so these limitations will not be exceeded.
- Maintain all required work and material identification. Verify data collection to maintain logs, records and other paperwork that is required.
- Operate as many furnaces as required to meet the production requirements, maintaining the same degree of control and monitoring as required on each furnace.
- Responsible for staging and marking material for loading.
- Detect and report any improper operation, defective material, or unusual conditions to proper supervision.
Grinder Operator
- Operate automatic grinders to finish grind, spot grind, and grind plate to desired dimensional tolerances.
- Work from mill orders and procedures to obtain specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and other instructions to grind material to meet customer specifications.
- Set-up and operate the grinder, grinder feed, and rotating table and auxiliary equipment.
- Set-up includes proper setting of grinder wheel speed, feed rates, and head pressure control, holding fixture, clamps and turning apparatus.
- Manually operate feeds and speeds to perform spot grinding operations.
- Maintain logs and records covering starting weights and finish weights of material ground.
- Change worn grinding wheels as necessary or for various grits and/or grades of alloy being ground.
- Detect and report improper equipment operation or defective material to supervision.
Pickling Line
- Schedules and assists with operation of pickling line to pickle, clean, coat, desensitize and/or de-copper material as required to meet specified requirements.
- Maintains operating temperatures, concentrations and levels of solutions as required per operation specifications.
- Operates valves and/or control devices to make up and maintain solutions according to specifications and to drain weak and /or dirty solution from tanks.
Final Shear
- Identify plates by stamp number, and re-identify material as needed.
- Accurately mark material for cut sizes, roll week number, transfer tags and circle stamp.
- Read & acknowledge test samples to be sheared.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate data in the Tandem System (interpret, record, accept, reject materials).
- Responsible for setting knife up, maintain knives changes, and completing daily knives inspection.
- Support preventative maintenance of machine by maintaining routine inspections, greasing, and oiling shear parts, and other activities as necessary.
Final Inspector
- Perform a variety of non-destructive testing and inspection duties on high-temperature alloys following established methods and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain all required records and reports in prescribed form and detail.
- Identify alloy to insure ordered specifications.
- Mark and identify defective items following accepted practices.
- Check completed items for compliance with pertinent dimensional, hardness, material coding and identification, general hardness, and other specifications.
- Release accepted materials for packing.
Shipping / Mark and Pack:
- Work from mill orders, sales orders, purchase orders, and schedules to plan and execute packing and shipping of customer orders.
- Work with all department areas to ensure proper documentation and compliance to specifications prior to shipment.
- Separate previous day bill of ladings into individual copies.
- Compile all documents from mill order traveler jackets for previous day shipments and distribute them to appropriate personnel.
- Separate the previous days shipping weight tickets and distribute them to the appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for proper loading, packaging, unloading, and securing of intracompany material transfers.
- Read and understand purchase orders, bills of lading, and mill order travelers when receiving material.
- Weigh material and record on shipping tag.
- Visually inspect for conformance of product to customer requirements.
- Complete packaging of metal to customer per special instructions and customer requirements.
- Use computer system to begin and end operations following all mill and technical instructions.
- Operate spectrotest alloy identification machine by using proper mode and grade of alloy.
- Recalibrate machine with test samples on a routine basis and per quality control procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED
- Manufacturing experience preferred
