Woodward in Zeeland, MI is looking for mechanical assembler on our 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm to join our team. This position will be responsible for performing various assembly and testing processes on our products. If you have experience in assembly in a manufacturing environment, apply now!

What you will be doing

Essential Functions

  • Physically transfers material from one process to another. Picks material from racks, trays and shelves, and prepares them for assembly, sub-assembly, spare part orders or other subsequent processes. Performs various inventory transactions to move, stock, pick, return to stock inventory, adjust inventory, etc.

  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as verifying or filling out paperwork, inputting or providing data, maintaining inventory accuracy, etc., and data entry or reporting.

  • Performs a variety of organizational functions such as counting, weighing packaging etc. according to SOP to prepare materials for subsequent processes.

  • Coordinates and prioritizes materials and item movements from receiving and product drop off areas, sorts and stores on racks, trays and shelves in a predetermined order, i.e. stocking parts.

  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to stock or marks information on containers.

  • Maintains accurate inventory quantity and traceability on inventory items by using site ERP system.

  • Counts inventory for cycle counting purposes.

Other Functions

  • Identifies non-conformance and stock discrepancies.

  • Promotes teamwork and cooperative efforts.

  • May be required to run simple motorized equipment to perform functions (e.g. band saw, chemical etching, vibro engraving)

  • May be required to be certified and operate powered material handling equipment (e.g. forklift truck, motorized pallet handler, crane)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Good reading, writing and math skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines as required.

  • Ability to learn the site ERP system (WISE/SAP)

  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Basic understanding of PC's including e-mail.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required)

Experience

  • No industry experience

  • No less than 1 year experience of Mechanical Aptitude
