Do you want to be part of a physical security team relied upon for compliance matters pertaining to large capital construction projects as well as the maintenance, modification, and accreditation of APL's current SCIFs/SAPFs?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a Physical Security Escort to help us in the scheduling and execution of the lab's SCIFs/SAPFs escorting needs.

As a Physical Security Escort...
  • Your primary responsibility will be to escort skilled trade workers during maintenance and repair activities. The Escort will ensure positive control of all individuals approved for access from verification of identify upon arrival at the facility, personally escorting them within the facility, and ensuring they exit appropriately.
  • Additionally, certain larger activities will require you to coordinate escort schedules across multiple internal stakeholders. This includes leveraging relevant Security entities at APL to establish scope of activities and requirements, identification of pertinent personnel able to perform escorts, creation and population of the escorting schedule, communication of basic escorting requirements, and the smooth execution of all escort activities.
  • You will operate with constant vigilance and concentration in order to observe and report all suspicious or noncompliant behaviors or conditions. All resulting incident or support requests are to be tracked and communicated to the proper offices within APL.
  • Expected to maintain poise, self control, and interact professionally with all relevant stakholders both internal to and external to APL
  • Ocassional off-hour and weekend escorting duties are to be expected

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Have a high school diploma or greater
  • Possess at least 5+ years of professional security experience with an emphasis on physical security or visitor control
  • Are willing and able to work in SCIFs/SAPFs daily and working on construction sites.
  • Are willing and able to work occasional off-hour and weekend escorting duties
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
