What you will do:

Direct and assist chemical operators in a manufacturing plant in order to meet predefined manufacturing goals.

What you need to be successful:

* Safety and emergency response leadership are critical for this role, ensuring a safe work environment.
* Demonstrating control over both automated and manual operations is a fundamental responsibility of a Chemical Operator Lead.
* Leadership in directing and troubleshooting is essential for smooth operations and maintaining process efficiency.
* Coordinating with management to ensure proper staffing and scheduling is key to maintaining plant operations.
* Training is a critical part of leadership in ensuring the team is well-prepared to handle various situations.
* Quality control is an important part of ensuring products meet standards.
* Continuous improvement ensures the plant operates efficiently and remains competitive.
* Environmental compliance and managing wastewater treatment are vital for regulatory adherence and plant safety.

Other Duties:

Inform operators of management of change involving procedure or equipment changes. Fill in for chemical operators when necessary. Issue permits for maintenance work as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Manager.

Position Requirements:

Education - High School Diploma or equivalent, chemistry courses helpful.

Experience - Two- or three-years working experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.

Physical Demands - Normal abilities required. Occasionally lifts bags up to 100 pounds and moves drums up 500 pounds. Must climb stairs and ladders periodically. Must pass pulmonary function test to wear respirator, wear safety shoes, hard hat and safety glasses.

Working Conditions - Exposed to plant conditions on a continuous basis which involves chemicals, odors, noise, dirt, heat, cold and wet floors.

Responsibility for Errors- Poor judgement in following correct procedures related to quality, process, personnel, production or inefficient manpower planning could have negative effects on company operations and goals.

Additional Factors:

Variety of duties require considerable knowledge of the process in order to anticipate and/or troubleshoot and solve production problems. The ability to manage multiple responsibilities and direct others requires a high level of organization and judgement.

Special Skills/Training - Must have above average written and oral skills. This position may require exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or waste. Appropriate training in compliance with federal law regarding hazardous waste exposure/handling will be completed within 6 months of hire to fulfill job requirements.
