Assembly of new build jet engines , with the potential for rebuild/overhaul
Candidates coming from the military who have repaired/maintained powerplant equipment are first priority, with A&P licensed technicians coming in closely behind.
Working from tool lists, BOMs, and instructions that are sequential in nature, all materials are delivered to the assembler
Materials are paper based as well as electronic (on a computer)
All work is mechanical, sub-assemblies of engines as well as final assembly of the full unit
Working at a bench or in an assembly area where engines are hanging so could perform work sitting or standing
One engine takes 500-1000 hours for full build out
Work is not repetitive, and will change on a daily basis
Quality: will inspect their own work as well as others' work, from inspection sheets which outline what to inspect and how to inspect. No testing will be required
Tools used: hand tools - power and manual, as well as torque wrenches. Torque values are provided (not determined by the technician) but technicians MUST know torque values according to fastener and work performed
Operating hoists and pallet jacks, no overhead cranes, or forklifts.
