Lubbock Business Manager 41097BR Philosophy Position Description Manages personnel and budgetary matters for a department or college. Exercises discretion and independent judgment to oversee the activities of staff and the financial processes to ensure fiscal responsibility of department/college. Ensures staff and faculty have the resources to complete their work. Usually serves as a hiring manager and employee service coordinator. About the Department and/or College Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. The College has more than 10,000 students enrolled representing more than a quarter of the overall Texas Tech University student population while maintaining a 22:1 student to faculty ratio. Major/Essential Functions Assist the Department Chair in managing budgets, scheduling, preparing reports, record-keeping; Supervising other office personnel and staff employees; Manage inventory, purchase equipment and services, manage p-card purchases; Handle additional requests made by faculty, assist with department functions; Assist with course scheduling; Manage travel applications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of TTU budget policies and procedures, Familiarity with Banner Safety Information Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all TTU employees.
