Job Summary

This position is responsible to manage campus Building Automation System (BAS) to efficiently run our campus HVAC equipment. They must program and implement changes to the system, manage the BAS programming, making edits, corrections, and changes as required. The candidate will make recommendations on how to operate equipment to optimal performance and efficiency. Must successfully demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a team, including off-shift hours and emergency response situations. This position will be part of the campus energy management program utilizing BAS management to support voluntary curtailment programs and conservation. This position will also manage compliance initiatives related to mechanical equipment such as tracking air emission data, fuel usage, USTs/ASTs, etc.

Essential Functions



  • Maintain, and program the Universities' Building Automation Systems. Validating hardware and project installation meets design requirements. Diagnosing communication problems, troubleshooting, and tracking software and hardware issues of BAS and Mechanical equipment. Participating in field quality control or safety audits and reviewing analysis and results.
  • Scheduling regular preventative maintenance with computerized maintenance management system. Schedule workload based off of work orders and planned maintenance. Perform work in a cost effective and safe manner following applicable safety and university standards.
  • Identify, locate, procure and maintain an appropriate on-site inventory of equipment, replacement parts and tools.
  • Track data related to fuel usage, equipment run time, equipment upgrades and replaces to support air permit submissions. Manage compliance associated with the university's air permit and UST/AST regulations.
  • Review and manage the campus building BAS systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all HVAC systems.
  • Support campus operations as an on-call manager on scheduled weekends or holidays.
  • Ensure the continuous operation of university equipment to provide for the proper temperature and environmental conditions needed to operate a 24/7 research university.
  • Train all stationary engineers in the proper maintenance of university equipment using the proper measurement devices and tools in order to meet the original manufacturers specifications.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience withbuilding mechanical systems and mainstream building automation software applications.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of controls, control logic and coding.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems and mainstream building automation software applications is a plus.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630.00 to $93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
