Clinical Laboratory Manager
Pathology Summary Responsible for the daily operation of the lab: staffing, workflow, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Provides daily management and strategic direction for the laboratories. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies including FACT, JC, OSHA, and CLIA. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Develops and maintains QA systems to ensure high performance and effective remedial actions for deviations from performance specifications. Assigns, monitors, and supervises work to ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs and applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including health/safety and patient confidentiality. Ensures the laboratory is prepared for all regulatory reviews and inspections, including Joint Commission and FACT. Oversees coordination of clinical trials with principal investigators, study coordinators, quality assurance, and compliance. Conducts interviews and recommends candidates for hiring to ensure adequate staffing for the laboratory. Bachelor's Degree Medical Laboratory Science required or Bachelor's Degree Chemistry required or Bachelor's Degree Biology required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Medical Technologist (ASCP) [MLT, MT, MLA, Histologists] - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred Experience People Management Experience 3-5 years required and Clinical Laboratory Experience 5-7 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to lead teams and drive change via the execution of system vision and priorities. - Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities, with excellent follow-through and a proactive approach. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. - Superb interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively as required. - Experience in identifying, hiring and developing leaders to position them for personal growth and organizational success. - Strong analytical and financial management skills; ability to identify cost trends and causes; experience in developing and evaluating performance metrics.
