Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for compiling, evaluating, and analyzing investment and financial data to optimize the credit union's investment portfolio. This role actively manages the day-to-day oversight of the investment portfolio, including the selection, purchase, and monitoring of securities such as government bonds, agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, and municipals in alignment with the credit union's investment policy. The Financial Analyst will support the organization's asset/liability management strategy by conducting portfolio modeling, performance analysis, duration and convexity analysis, and scenario-based interest rate stress testing to drive sound investment decision-making. This position is responsible for ensuring the portfolio maintains an appropriate balance between yield optimization, liquidity risk, credit risk, and interest rate risk exposure consistent with the credit union's overall risk appetite and regulatory requirements. The Financial Analyst will prepare and present regular portfolio performance reports to senior management and ALCO, providing actionable insights and recommendations to adjust portfolio positioning in response to changing market conditions, economic outlook, and the credit union's evolving balance sheet needs.

The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for performing independent advanced analysis, modeling, and forecasting to support strategic initiatives, projects portfolios, and enterprise decision-making. The incumbent works with complex, multi-variable models, scenario analysis, and project financials partnering with business leaders, project managers and Sr. leadership to share results and guide decisions. The role will be an integral part of the organization's corporate planning including budgeting, modeling, and analysis for project management.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reporting: Responsible for the loading, balancing, and structural integrity of organizational data as it is used in the reporting systems.

    • Develop and implement financial reporting to key stakeholders to assist in making informed financial decisions.

    • Collaborate with business units and key areas on financial performance and planning, including cost allocations and analysis.

    • Lead complex financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to support strategic planning and executive decision-making

    • Partner cross-functionally with business leaders to support departmental planning, performance management, and efficiency initiatives

  • Budgeting: Responsible for organizing, loading, and maintaining financial data into the required systems. Prepare budgets using financial tools and predictive modeling providing support for key drivers and risks.

    • Analyze and project future trends, provide recommendations for optimizing financial strategies.

    • Review budget proposals from business units ensuring allocation of funds aligned with corporate strategy and goals.

  • Audit and Support:

  • Partner with business units on quarterly call reporting and oversee examinations with third-party auditors.

    • Develop and maintain data standards, policy, and procedures.

  • Assist with regulatory, audit, and compliance reporting as needed, ensuring adherence to departmental and organizational policies.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendor relationships focusing on the growth and advancement of the Credit Union.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship for analyst reviewing work for quality and supporting development.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, to include verbal, written, visual, and quantitative

  • Adept at developing relationships across diverse teams

  • Experience structuring solutions involving data and advanced analytics

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, allocational tools, and reporting that compares factors affecting profitability of products or services

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and market trends

  • Proficiency with contemporary business productivity and collaboration software such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and exceptional Excel skills

  • Manages and collaborates well with individuals and teams

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 3-5 years' experience of financial or analytic experience required.

  • Experience working within the financial services industry is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Axiom or Syntellis software a plus.
