Metrologist II

The Metrologist II reports directly to the Team Leader, Manager, or Director depending on the organizational structure.These positions are non-exempt. Twenty-five to Fifty percent travel may be required based on project and client needs.

Expectations:

Metrologists of all level complete calibrations, qualifications, and preventive maintenance (PM) actions with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI and/or client specific policies and procedures.They are expected to take a proactive role in supporting the Team and in providing client support and are expected to build a high level of trust with internal and client personnel. This trust is developed through consistently upholding PCI Values and demonstrating Honesty, Integrity, Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment.

Responsibilities/Assignments:

Metrologist II

  • Completes calibrations, qualifications and PMs with accurate and timely GxP documentation following PCI or client specific policies and procedures in a safe manner without direct supervision
  • Identifies project supply and equipment needs and conveys to the appropriate resource to ensure availability
  • Works to understand client needs and requirements through effective communication and develops client relationships through excellent customer support
  • Ensures client requests are conveyed to the appropriate PCI management resource and met in accordance with management direction
  • Completes timesheets and expense reports weekly with accurate labor and expense codes
  • Is attune to potential new opportunities for PCI when at a client site or interacting with a client and relays this lead back to Leader/Manager
  • Develops equipment test plans and measurement data templates in accordance with PCI SOPs
  • Ensures safe work practices are followed by all PCI associates
  • Plans and makes sure laboratory supplies and equipment are ready and available
  • Completes timesheets with correct labor code charges (weekly) and assists other PCI associates in proper coding of time and expenses

Skills Required:

Metrologist II

  • Has a thorough understanding of calibration concepts and requirements including accuracy testing requirements
  • Possesses a thorough understanding and application of GXPs and Life Science industry regulations
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of instrument, equipment and loop calibrations in manufacturing, utilities and laboratory environments
  • Demonstrates effective communication and problem solving skills with clients and coworkers
  • Understands and has an in-depth working knowledge of Traceability, Substitution of Standards and Test Accuracy and Uncertainty Ratios as part of ISO 17025 requirements
  • Is able to calculate measurement uncertainties consistent with PCI's approved uncertainty budget

Experience & Education Required for the Metrologist II:

A two-year degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, other related technical field or equivalent military training and two years of applicable (Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration) experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
